Please see the message below circulated by the DfE in regard to the recent news story about ‘Caledonian Schools’

You may have seen recent media coverage that DfE has taken 3 schools constructed by Caledonian Modular out of use with immediate effect.

Following surveys conducted at our request, we identified concerns with building work at 3 volumetric projects.  As the buildings were not built in accordance with their design, we could not provide assurance that they were safe to occupy and are putting temporary accommodation in place to accommodate pupils safely.

We wanted to alert you to this issue, so that you can review whether you have projects with Caledonian involvement, and take the necessary steps to assure yourselves that they are safe.  If you do have concerns, please contact us by emailing capital.directors@education.gov.uk
