The Government have recently launched a joint special and alternative provision (AP) free schools wave, which allows local authorities to set out their case for a new school. The guidance for how to apply, the criteria that the Government will use when assessing bids can be found here.

 In early 2019 the Government will  invite applications from providers in the successful local authority areas to open around 30 special and AP free schools in total.

All Local Authorities must submit the free schools bid form and specification template by midday on 15 October 2018.
