National Audit Office – School Capital Survey – Deadline Reminder

The National Audit Office is currently carrying out a value for money examination of the Department for Education’s (DfE’s) capital spending on schools. In 2013 we assessed whether DfE was securing value for money on capital funding for new school places. This study will build on that work and also look at the condition of school buildings across the country. In case you or your colleagues are not familiar with the work and role of the National Audit Office, I include some background at the end of this email.

The focus of our report is DfE, however a key part of our study is to understand the challenges faced by local authorities. We are therefore asking all local authorities to complete an online survey. The questionnaire focuses on how local authorities address the need for school places and the condition of school buildings.

The survey can be completed online and can be accessed by clicking on the following link which is unique to your authority: https://www.surveygizmo.eu/s3/90011770/VFM-Capital-Survey

Although the survey is addressed to you, feel free to nominate a specific individual who will be able to complete it on your behalf. The deadline for completing the questionnaire is 5pm, Friday 19th August 2016. Your response is vital to enable us to understand the challenges local authorities face.
