Establishing pupil yields from housing development and securing developer contributions for education

Published: Wed 12th September 2018

The Department for Education expects local authorities to seek developer contributions towards school places that are created to meet the need arising from housing development, when there are not enough places available in existing schools within a suitable distance of the development. The Department is working with the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) to develop guidance for local planning authorities on securing, maximising and sustaining contributions for education where relevant and reasonable. Prior to publication they are seeking views from Local Authorities so please respond to the consultation by no later than 5pm on 8th October 2018.  Response Forms should be emailed to planning.team@education.gov.uk
